Armani Wilkie
I am lucky enough to ride the best horse in the world Quart Pot Romeo - aka Romeo. He is a 14.3 stock horse that I love doing everything on, trail riding, rodeoing, ranch sorting, WCTRA days, playing and having fun on. I also have a young horse called Clearsky Ice Diamond - aka ID, who is a 4 yr old Stock horse out of Acres of Frost. She will take over from Romeo when he has had enough of competing. I think she will be a good all rounder like Romeo. In 2018 I was lucky enough to be selected as the NRCA Rodeo Mini Princess for WA. I get to ride in Grand Entries carrying the WA Flag, which makes me very proud. I have placed at nearly every Rodeo and Junior Rodeo I have competed in, in Barrels, and towards the end of last year I started Junior Break Away Roping. I recently placed 2nd at the Mogumber New Year’s Eve Rodeo. I love to watch my videos of my runs to see what we can improve on and occasionally to see how far Romeo and I have come together.
Wendy Harris, Stacey McCarthy, Maddi Edwards and Amanda Oversby are my favourite cowgirls that I look up to in Rodeo. I think they are really nice, they are good competitors and they are always there to help me when I need it and give me advice and they are really good riders. I am lucky to have great horse trainers around me that have also helped me, Ashlea Jay, Jess Panizza, Sandi Simons and Rhys Morrissey. Hopefully when I get a bit older I can start to train horses as well.
This year I would like to work hard on my Break Away Roping and my barrel pattern. I am looking forward to giving Camp drafting a go and just enjoying being out and about on Romeo. I am also hoping to help mum get ID ready to compete and hopefully enter some novice barrels on her.
